Job description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Maintenance is responsible for the overall operations of the maintenance department and the airworthiness of the aircraft. The person works to ensure the safety of all aircraft, including but not limited to airworthiness, regulatory compliance, sound maintenance practices, process and operations.

Responsabilities

  • Responsible for the overall operation of the company Maintenance Department and as such, will have oversight to release to service airframes, engines, rotors, appliances, and component parts thereof;
  • Responsible for specific duties for the Director of Maintenance as required in Company’s FAA approved Operations Manual and applicable FARs;
  • Maintain compliance with current FAA Regulations; Inspection/Compliance Standards, company policies and procedures;
  • Ensures all aircraft are maintained in Airworthy condition;
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling and forecasting maintenance activities and managing a comprehensive maintenance department budget;
  • Ensure adequate inspection aids, special tools and equipment are available, inspected and maintained in a serviceable condition;
  • Ensure all maintenance personnel performing maintenance and inspections have adequate training and are appropriately qualified to perform the work which they have been assigned;
  • Oversee maintenance personnel training requirements and provide input on planning of all scheduled training;
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of all required inspection records, reports and forms;
  • Conduct internal and external facility audits as necessary;
  • Performs administrative and clerical duties using computers including large amounts of data entry;
  • Ensure aircraft records, maintenance data, and flight data are maintained in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies;
  • Ensure aircraft or any component returned to service meet type design or properly altered state and in condition for safe flight;
  • Ensure aircraft airworthiness by maintaining safety conditions conforming to standards set by the FAA and company policy.
  • Verify all inspections performed comply with Manufacturer’s Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and OAU’s Repair Station Manual;
  • Performs all management duties and any other specific duties assigned by the General manager;
  • Maintains a high degree of coordination with the Director of Customer Service;
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Shop Mechanics based on priorities established in coordination with the Director of Customer Service;
  • Responsible for the maintenance conformity of customer aircraft within the manufacturer’s guidelines;
  • Ensure that all shop employees adhere to the duties and responsibilities outlined in the General Operations Manual and Aircraft Flight Manual for a mechanic position;
  • Leads continual improvement efforts in all aspects of operations to achieve company goals and objectives;
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work areas in the maintenance department are kept in an orderly manner for maximum efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

  • Holds an Airframe and Powerplant license;
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years on Rotorcraft;
  • Having previous experience in a 145 Repair Station;
  • Must have experience with Lean Six Sigma, Lean Logic
  • Understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Solution oriented with an ability to take initiative, creating, implementing and improving policies and procedures;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a vehicle;
  • Hold a valid passport;
  • Be available to travel as required.
